7thSense : Delta Media Serving - Uncompressed Video

	What is a Media Server? Simply, a source of high quality moving imagery for use in projected or direct view displays. Many applications require a high quality source of imagery which is matched to the particular display system, whether a projected 3D cinema, multi channel full dome planetaria, digital signage installation or heritage experience inside a musuem or visitor attraction. Delta is that source, a fully uncompressed video server, capable of immense flexibility in matching any display solution, whether flat, curved screen, full dome or 3D stereo. Delta's many reference installations throughout the world use it to provide the best quality imagery - important, for example, when projected in a large scale format which would magnify any compression artefacts. Delta can provide fully uncompressed 4:4:4 imagery onto any shape screen, mixed with live video, still imagery and special effects, all performed in realtime so that system installation and customer show creation is rapid and accurate. Delta also scales well, with anywhere from 2 to 6 graphics outputs per Delta server plus the ability to join multiple Delta servers into a single coherent server system which plays syncronised frame-accurate media as part of a wider visitor experience. Delta's technical abilities are comprehensive: realtime distortion correction & edge blending, high bit depth video, movie encryption, passive & active 3D stereo modes, multi channel audio, SMPTE mastering or chase, High resolution movies (for example; 4096 x 2400 in the field), Live video input and much more.

High Resolution, High Framerate, Uncompressed Media Serving

A Delta server's high performance is gained by the ability to utilise todays ultra fast hard disks to stream uncompressed movie content plus the extreme realtime processing available in modern graphics cards.

A single Delta server is capable of serving 100's of megabytes per second of uncompressed movies which can be full 4:4:4 or one of our light compressions (YUV-4:2:2 or YUV-4:2:0) tailored to your performance requirements.

Matching the media framerate is essential for accurate playback and Delta can be easily configured for film type 24fps, European 25fps or US type 30fps content, in addition to 3D stereo modes of 48, 50 or 60fps (frame doubled by the projector) or 96, 100 or 120fps (non frame doubled).

Standard PC hardware

Delta is multi channel output (2 minimum, up to 6 per server) and scalable to a multi-rack coherent server system via ethernet.

We choose the PC specification based on your performance requirements from a range of configurations including Small Form Factor, 2U, 3U or 4U rackmount chassis.

Complete video Genlock is also available as an option to suit large multi channel domes, simulation after action review or other fast moving content.

Other options available include Live Video Capture (RGB, DVI, SDI, HD-SDI, SVideo), Active or Passive Stereo, High Bit Depth, Movie Encryption, 3D screen mesh import and multi channel digital or balanced audio.

Full Show Creation and Control

The operator uses the Delta much like any non linear editing suite. The Delta GUI pictured opposite is multi rack aware, and allows the operator to construct shows "Near to Showtime", using the full drag & drop Graphical User Interface to add movies, images, audio, special effects and live video capture to the timeline.

The operator then simply presses play to immediately review the show on the server's output, or locally on the GUi via it's realtime preview.

Interactivity is available even during playback, allowing the (typically Live Events) operator to control overall audio & video levels, freeze specified video capture sources and run scripted Sequences which can control many aspects of playback.
