Custom Serving
7thSense are always interested in extending our product line, and as such are open to suggestions for new features or custom requirements.
A prime example of this philosophy is the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, who required a giant beating heart projected onto a custom 3D formed mesh screen. To meet the requirements, we had to extend our 3D screen mesh import, add variable playback rate in sync with a visitor's heartbeat, seamless fading between various different heart
movies (e.g. bloodflow, electrical activity) and an externally controllable crossfade between internal & external projected views. 7thSense developed all of these features in time for the August 2009 launch of the exhibit, integrating the 4 Delta servers with our customer's control system.
Features added for Heart
Delta's additional features for the Heart installation:
- Wrap high resolution moving imagery onto customer-supplied 3D mesh
- Externally controllable variable playback rate
- Seamless, on-demand crossfade between multiple movies
- Variable mask layers to provide externally controllable crossfade between front and rear projected views of the Heart
- Tight integration with feedback of playback status to customer's control system
- Additional point distortion for alignment of 5 projectors onto 3D Heart shaped screen surface
- Audio looping for heartbeat sounds
- Audio pitch compensation for variable frame rate
